What are affiliate opportunities and affiliate programs? The best example is Amazon.Com, but many household names and high street giants offer affiliate program opportunities. As a very simple example, lets say your site sold animal related products and you joined the Amazon Affiliation Scheme, you would place a link or banner advertisement on your site and as each and every person buys a book from your link, you get paid commission. How does the company know where the sale originated? The link code is unique to you, it contains your affiliate identification. Besides selling products through affiliate programs, some companies pay you commission just for generating a lead, typical affiliate companies are those involved in finance and insurance. Others pay you commissions for directing traffic to their websites. How Does It Work? Below is a list of server solution providers or affiliate management companies involved in the industry.
Affiliate companies don't always accept everyone that applies and often want to view your website before approving. Your website may not reach their criteria and your affiliate application will be declined. You have to agree to their terms and conditions and adhere to them. There are often strict rules relating bidding on certain keywords in Adwords and Overture, especially brand names. The greatest strength of affiliate programs is that you get the opportunity to be behind trusted big names like Walmart and Marks & Spencer. You can share in the success of some of the most successful companies. Commission payments are either a percentage of the sale or a fixed amount. Depending where you live in this small global village, you are paid in Great British Pounds, Dollars, Euro or whatever the nominated currency. There are often stages to reach before payment is made. ClickBank for instance give you a choice of $10 upwards. This means once your commission has reached the ten dollar mark, they will send you a cheque, although ClickBank deduct $2.50 administration fee, no matter how much the cheque is for. They don't do electronic money transfers. ClickBank don't tend to promote the biggest companies but commissions can be up to a staggering 75%. Commision Junction, DGM and Trade Doubler work with some of the biggest well known companies as well as independents. Commission rates are lower even as low as 0.5% but I have received a cheque for £550 for a sale with a big DIY store - that's about $800 !
